Medicare help in Yakima, Washington
MultiCare Yakima Memorial, Astria’s lower-valley hospitals and the Farm Workers Clinic network serve one of the state’s largest dual-eligible populations — and a plan menu that is moderate in the city and thin in the valley.
What to know before you compare plans in Yakima County
Yakima County’s care changed hands in the last few years: Yakima Valley Memorial became MultiCare Yakima Memorial, Astria closed its Yakima hospital and kept Toppenish and Sunnyside, and the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic grew into one of the largest community health networks in the Northwest. Which of those an Advantage plan includes is the first question, and for anything beyond regional specialty care the answer is a trip to Seattle or Spokane, which is where a Medigap policy’s any-provider access matters.
Yakima County also has one of the largest populations in the state with both Medicare and Apple Health, so Dual Special Needs Plans, the Medicare Savings Programs and Extra Help are central here, and many conversations include a bilingual family member. We are glad to have them in the room.

Turning 65? Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your birthday. Already on Medicare? The Annual Election Period is Oct 15–Dec 7, and Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs Jan 1–Mar 31. Already have a Medigap policy? Washington lets you change it any time of year.
Your options
Which kind of plan fits you in Yakima?
Medicare Advantage
All-in-one Part C plans, often $0 premium, that use a local network — so whether UW Medicine, Providence, MultiCare or Kaiser is in it matters as much as the price.
Medigap pairs with Original Medicare and lets you see any provider in the country that accepts Medicare — and in Washington you can change plans any time.
Yakima County typically offers a moderate Medicare Advantage menu, including Dual Special Needs Plans, plus every Medigap carrier in Washington and the full Part D lineup. The lower valley has fewer Advantage plans. We compare what is sold at your address.
I have Medicare and Apple Health. What should I look at?
A Dual Special Needs Plan can coordinate both at $0 plan premium, and the Medicare Savings Programs can pay your Part B premium with income limits only for 2026. See our Apple Health page; we are glad to include your family in the conversation.
How much does your help cost?
Nothing. Independent agents are paid by the carriers when you enroll, so comparing plans and reviewing your coverage each year is free to you.
