Medicare in Wenatchee
Wenatchee’s Medicare market is unusual: one system, Confluence Health, provides most of the hospital and specialty care for Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan and Grant counties, and whether a given Advantage plan includes it settles the choice for most people. Confluence accepts Original Medicare, and therefore any Medigap policy; its Advantage contracts change from year to year and are the first thing we check.
Beyond Confluence the map is hospital districts: Cascade Medical in Leavenworth, Lake Chelan Health, Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak, Three Rivers in Brewster. Tertiary care means Seattle, over Stevens or Blewett Pass, or Spokane. That distance is why so many people here keep Original Medicare with a Medigap policy, and why the Apple Health-and-Medicare population in the orchards leans on Dual Special Needs Plans where they exist.
