South King County’s biggest city, with Valley Medical Center in Renton, MultiCare Covington and St. Francis in Federal Way all within reach — and one of the most diverse Medicare populations in the state.
What to know before you compare plans in King County
Kent sits between three hospitals under three owners: UW Medicine’s Valley Medical Center in Renton, MultiCare Covington Medical Center, and Virginia Mason Franciscan’s St. Francis in Federal Way. Kaiser Permanente Washington and the Seattle systems are close too. Because King County’s Advantage menu is deep, nearly every combination is available; the point is to match the plan to the hospital you actually use.
Kent also has a large population with both Medicare and Apple Health, and many households where an adult child helps a parent navigate the paperwork in a second language. Dual Special Needs Plans, the Medicare Savings Programs that pay the Part B premium, and Extra Help are a big part of the conversation here, and we are glad to include the family in it.

When you can enroll
Turning 65? Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your birthday. Already on Medicare? The Annual Election Period is Oct 15–Dec 7, and Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs Jan 1–Mar 31. Already have a Medigap policy? Washington lets you change it any time of year.
Your options
Which kind of plan fits you in Kent?
Medicare Advantage
All-in-one Part C plans, often $0 premium, that use a local network — so whether UW Medicine, Providence, MultiCare or Kaiser is in it matters as much as the price.
Medigap pairs with Original Medicare and lets you see any provider in the country that accepts Medicare — and in Washington you can change plans any time.
King County typically has many Medicare Advantage plans, every Medigap carrier in Washington, and the full Part D lineup. Availability is set by ZIP code and changes each plan year; we compare what is offered at your address.
I have Medicare and Apple Health. What should I look at?
A Dual Special Needs Plan can coordinate both at $0 plan premium, and the Medicare Savings Programs can pay your Part B premium with income limits only for 2026. See our Apple Health page, and bring a family member to the conversation if that helps.
How much does your help cost?
Nothing. Independent agents are paid by the carriers when you enroll, so comparing plans and reviewing your coverage each year is free to you.
