Medicare in Santa Fe

What to know before you compare plans in Santa Fe County

Santa Fe County offers a moderate Advantage menu, every Medigap carrier in New Mexico and the full Part D lineup. Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center contract with different carriers, and Presbyterian Health Plan’s exit from most Advantage plans for 2027 removes one of the local options. Albuquerque’s specialists are an hour down I-25, which an Advantage network may or may not include.

Santa Fe retirees travel more than most, and many keep a second place elsewhere, which is where a Medigap policy’s any-provider access matters. We compare both paths with your doctors and your calendar.

Major care in the area includes:

A plan leaving your county opens a Special Enrollment Period, and from January 1, 2027, New Mexico adds a 60-day Medigap birthday window.

Questions from Santa Fe

Frequently asked questions

Which Medicare plans are available in Santa Fe?

Santa Fe County typically offers a moderate Medicare Advantage menu, every Medigap carrier in New Mexico, and the full Part D lineup, set by ZIP code and changing each plan year.

Are Christus St. Vincent and Presbyterian Santa Fe in the same plans?

Rarely both in every plan. Each contracts with some Advantage carriers and not others; with Original Medicare and a Medigap policy there is no network to check. We confirm before you enroll.

How much does your help cost?

Nothing. Independent agents are paid by the carriers when you enroll, so comparing plans and reviewing your coverage each year is free to you.
