Lincoln County offers a moderate Advantage menu, every Medigap carrier in New Mexico and the full Part D lineup. Lincoln County Medical Center in Ruidoso is the county’s hospital; Gerald Champion in Alamogordo and the Roswell hospitals are the next stops, and El Paso or Lubbock the specialty cities, which a Medigap policy covers and an Advantage network may not.
Many Ruidoso residents chose their plan in Lubbock, Midland or Dallas and moved their residence later, which opens a Special Enrollment Period and means choosing from the plans sold in Lincoln County. The 2024 South Fork and Salt fires displaced thousands here; Medicare gives a Special Enrollment Period to anyone a declared disaster kept from enrolling on time.
