Supplemental & Indemnity Coverage
Medicare and a Medicare Advantage plan leave real gaps — daily hospital co-pays, the cost of a serious diagnosis, help at home after surgery. These policies pay cash directly to you to close them.
None of these replace your health insurance, and none of them are Medicare products. They sit alongside what you already have and pay you a fixed amount when something specific happens, whatever your health plan does.
Which of them is worth buying depends entirely on the coverage you already hold. Somebody with a comprehensive Medigap policy may need none of this; somebody on a Medicare Advantage plan with a seven-day inpatient co-pay may find the first one on this list pays for itself in a single admission.
Three policies that pay you cash
Hospital Indemnity Insurance
Pays you a fixed cash amount for each day you spend in hospital, whatever your other coverage pays. Most often bought to cover the daily co-pays a Medicare Advantage plan leaves behind.
Worth a look if your Medicare Advantage plan charges a per-day inpatient co-pay.
Cancer and Critical Illness Insurance
Pays a lump sum in cash on diagnosis, to spend on anything at all — co-pays, travel, a mortgage payment, time off work.
Worth a look if a diagnosis would cost you months of income as well as co-pays.
Short-Term Home Health Care Insurance
Pays a daily cash benefit for care at home after an illness, injury or surgery, on the same trigger long-term care insurance uses but for a limited period.
Worth a look if you want coverage for the recovery weeks after surgery or a fall.
Several companies, one agent, and the answer “you do not need this” on the table
Independent, and appointed with more than one company
Darin is appointed with each of these companies and can place coverage with any of them. We do not represent every insurer, and which company suits you depends on your age, your state, your health history and which benefits you actually want. Where a carrier's benefits are described on this page, those details come from that carrier's own current brochure.

Nothing here replaces your health insurance
These are limited benefit policies. They pay a fixed amount when something specific happens, and they are not major medical coverage, not Medicare, and not Medicare Supplement insurance.
If you hold a comprehensive Medigap policy, some of this would insure a cost you do not have. That is a conversation worth having before a sale, not after one.
Every page here lists who the product is not for, in as much detail as who it is for.
Not sure which of these applies to you?
Tell us how to reach you and what you already have. A licensed agent calls back, usually the same business day.
Medicare help in your state
This coverage sits alongside Medicare rather than replacing any part of it. Each state section has that state's plan structure, 2026 cost figures and enrollment deadlines.
